Lake of Bays is home to many flourishing business’s. Comprised of the villages of Dwight, Dorset, Baysville and Hillside there is plenty to keep you busy.
The Parker Team’s favourite Lake of Bays places to visit.
Starting at the south end of the Lake, there is the Lake of Bays Brewing Co. where fabulous craft beer is made. This is a not to be missed stop on the way to the cottage. Also in Baysville is the Cast Iron Restaurant with weekly specials to delight the palatte.
Not to be forgotton at the south end of Lake of Bays is Yummies in a Jar. Enjoy some of the best jams, marmalades and relishes you’ve ever tasted, and browse the gallery of John Murden.
In Dorset, one will find world renowned Robinson’s General Store which was voted “Best Country Store”. This store will take you back in time, offering up groceries, reading material, hardware, baked goods, and of course something for the traveller to remember the area by. Also in Dorset is The Trading Bay Dining Company. Definately a spot to take in the beauty of the Lake and enjoy a cold drink on a hot summer’s day, patrons can sit dockside and watch the boats and planes come and go. It’s a favourite of the locals and cottagers alike.
Arriving in Dwight, there is much to be found. The Township office is located just off of HWY 60, at 1012 Dwight Beach Road.
Right at the corner of HWY 60 and 35 you will find a place called “The Beacon”. A place to service your boat or snowmobile, fill up the gas tank, browse the convenience store or enjoy some remarkably good food, the Beacon is a worthy stop. Often open on holidays- call ahead to ensure they are open for those last minute pick ups.
A stop in Dwight would not be complete without a visit to Henrietta’s Pine Bakery. Family owned and operated, with baking done in European style, homemade deliciousness hardly describes the treats you’ll indulge in here. Be sure to arrive early in the day as they often sell out. We promise you won’t be disappointed here.
The Dwight Market and Pharmacy is also located in Dwight. Home to some of the best cuts of meat, a selection of fresh vegetables and dry goods, they recently renovated to include a pharmacy, where you can fill your prescriptions and get your flu shot.
Further along the Highway you will come upon the hamlet of Hillside. With a rich history and a historic church – Pioneer Memorial there is more to this little spot than meets the eye. It was the first minister of this little church that blazed the trail which would eventually become HWY 60. The manse still stands, now converted to a private residence.
