Kahshe Lake is a good size lake located in The District of Muskoka, Town of Gravenhurst about 2 hours north of the GTA.  Kahshe Lake flows into Sparrow Lake, while lakes upstream include Three Mile Lake and Bass Lake.  To see the flow of water, see below.  Water levels on Kahshe Lake are controlled by the MNR by a dam at the west end of the lake.

Kashe Lake

Kashe LakeThis lake is a popular lake and is home to about 600 cottages.  It has many shallow rock hazards throughout the lake, not necessarily marked for boaters.  The East side of Kahshe Lake is deep, while the West side is somewhat shallow.  There are a couple of marinas off of North Kahshe Lake road, as well as public docks.  

Also known as Kahsheshebogamog, the lake has a maximum depth of 21 meters and a perimeter of approximately 60 kilometers.  The water can be tea coloured due to the high levels of dissolved organics in the lake.  Major fish species found in the lake are: Walleye, Northern Pike, Moskellunge, Black Crappie, Small mouth bass, Burbot and Largemouth bass.

 

 

Kahshe Lake is home to KLRA or Kahshe Lake Ratepayers Association, whose purpose is:

“The purpose of the KLRA is to protect and enhance all aspects of the quality of life on Kahshe and Bass Lakes and their immediate surroundings and to provide representation for the membership to Municipal and Government bodies.
