Loon Lake is located in the Almaguin Highlands, in the Town of Kearney and is approximately 3 hours north of Toronto.  The lake has a shoreline measuring approximately 8km, with a maximum depth of 29 meters.  With crystal clear waters, it is excellent for swimming, boating, canoeing, kayaking, and boating.  There is an informal public boat launch by the dam.

Loon lake is connected to Grass lake and the water levels are controlled by an MNR owned and operated dam.

Major fish species found in the lake include: Lake Trout, Brook Trout, Round Whitefish, Small Mouth Bass, Burbot and White Sucker.

Loon lake is a scenic location featuring beautiful rock outcroppings, magnificent pines and towering trees.

Loon lake and Grass Lake are  home to a Lake Association whose goals are:

1. To protect and preserve the environment and our property values.

2. Our highest priority is the lake water, watershed area and anything that can impact water quality.

Each summer they run a one week sailing school.
