While out viewing some beautiful listings just outside Dorset, The Parker Team took the opportunity to stop in at the Dorset Museum and the Lake of Bays Marine Museum.
The first stop was the Lake of Bays Marine Museum (1090 Main St Dorset), which you can see from the bridge as you cross over from Robinson’s General Store. Today we were lucky enough to catch the SS Bigwin pulling away from the dock as it set sail on its tour of Lake of Bays. Greeted by Diane Burgess as we entered the Museum, we enjoyed the many artifacts and photos on display. Upstairs we took in a very informative display regarding the Lake of Bays Watershed, before heading back to the dock to enjoy the natural beauty of the Lake.
Our second stop was at the Dorset Heritage Museum (1040 Main St Dorset) which is a lovely and informative museum telling the story of the development of Dorset and area. Official this museum opened in 2001, with the cost for admission being by donation. The Museum hosts many special events, such as An Evening of Short Films & Heritage Day. This special spot is certainly a place you’ll want to visit while your in town.
