Doe Lake

Doe Lake is located just north of the Town of Huntsville in Novar which is part of the Parry Sound District. 

The lake is comprised of three sections- Doe Lake, Middle Doe Lake and Little Doe Lake, and is said to be the largest lake in the Almaguin Highlands area of the Magnetawan River. View the Lake Fact Sheet. 

There is a local marina: Katrine Marine located at 86 Doe Lake Road, set on the Magnetawan River, just a short boat ride to the Lake.

There are also two public boat launches: 

1014 Ferguson Road 

1686 Peggs Mountain Road. 

From Doe Lake it is just a short drive to the Katrine General Store or into Huntsville for shopping, restaurants, theatre or to access the hospital.

The District of Parry Sound

Along with Muskoka and Haliburton, The District of Parry Sound is considered to be part of Ontario’s cottage country, with its north-east boundary being formed in part by Algonquin Provincial Park.  Only 2.5 hours north of the Greater Toronto Area, the District of Parry Sound is becoming increasingly more desirable for cottagers and those looking to immerse themselves in the quiet beauty of nature.

The District of Parry Sound encompasses the villages of Burk’s Falls, Routh River and Sundridge, the Towns of Kearney, Parry Sound and Powassan and the Townships of Armour, Callander, Carling, Joly, Machar, Magnetawan, McDougall, McKellar, McMurrich/Monteith, Nipissing, Perry, Ryerson, Sequin, Strong and Whitestone.

The Eastern part of the District is referred to as The Almaguin Highlands.

The 2016 census showed the population of the District to be 42,824.
