The District of Parry Sound encompasses the villages of Burk’s Falls, Routh River and Sundridge, the Towns of Kearney, Parry Sound and Powassan and the Townships of Armour, Callander, Carling, Joly, Machar, Magnetawan, McDougall, McKellar, McMurrich/Monteith, Nipissing, Perry, Ryerson, Sequin, Strong and Whitestone.

The Eastern part of the District is referred to as The Almaguin Highlands.

The 2016 census showed the population of the District to be 42,824.
