The District of Parry Sound
Along with Muskoka and Haliburton, The District of Parry Sound is considered to be part of Ontario’s cottage country, with its north-east boundary being formed in part by Algonquin Provincial Park. Only 2.5 hours north of the Greater Toronto Area, the District of Parry Sound is becoming increasingly more desirable for cottagers and those looking to immerse themselves in the quiet beauty of nature.
The District of Parry Sound encompasses the villages of Burk’s Falls, Routh River and Sundridge, the Towns of Kearney, Parry Sound and Powassan and the Townships of Armour, Callander, Carling, Joly, Machar, Magnetawan, McDougall, McKellar, McMurrich/Monteith, Nipissing, Perry, Ryerson, Sequin, Strong and Whitestone.
The Eastern part of the District is referred to as The Almaguin Highlands.
The 2016 census showed the population of the District to be 42,824.
