Named by surveyor John Dennis after his student assistant Vernon B Wadsworth, the lake was officially opened for settlement in 1868.  Today the community works to preserve and enhance the future health of the Lake and shoreline for generations to come.

Public boat access, can be found at Avery Park Beach and Hutcheson Beach Park.
