There are 8 islands on the Lake: Rocky, Crown, Isle of Pines, Deadman’s, Forrest, Lawrence, Gall and Snowshoe.

Port Sydney Muskoka welcome signPort Sydney is located at the Southern end of Mary Lake.  Upon arriving in Port Sydney visitors are greeted by a welcome sign that reads “Home of 800 Nice Families and 1 Old Grouch.”  This historic town is approximately 12 kilometers south of Huntsville and about a 2.5 hour drive from Toronto.  The town was founded in 1871 by Albert Sydney Smith and was primarily a logging town, turned tourism when the by-passed the town.  Port Sydney is now the home of some spectacular cottages.  Port Sydney is a darling little town to tour, with spectacular natural beauty, historic homes & churches  and offers a beautiful sand beach on the shores of the Lake where one can watch the boats come and go and enjoy a swim in the beautiful clear water.
