Oxbow lake is located in Ontario’s cottage country in the District of Muskoka, Township of Lake of Bays. The first road into the lake was built in 1876 and was called Syndicate Road. Today this road is known as Limberlost Road.
The Lake has a surface area of 170 hectares, with a perimeter of 13 kilometers. The maximum depth found in the lake is 34 meters, while the mean depth is 11 meters.
There is an active Lake Association on the Lake, established 1975, with the goal of:
“The Oxbow Lake Cottagers’ Association is dedicated to the preservation and protection of life on the Lake, as we have all come to appreciate it.” ~Oxbow Lake Cottagers’ Association.
Camp Olympia is located on the shores of Oxbow lake, were campers can learn the ins and outs of tripping.
There is a public access to the lake located on the south end of the west arm of the lake.
Major fish species in the lake are as follows: Lake Fish, Lake Trout, Brook Trout, Smallmouth Bass, and Northern Pike.
